A local church has asked that it's patrons rethink their Halloween celebrations, because of the holidays historical roots. I think if you did an on the street interview of what the history of halloween, you would get many more answers about trick or treating and witches and ghosts and goblins. But you might get a few answers about rituals and druids and maybe some discussion of Day of the Dead.
I know we will be attending to the mass of trick-or-treaters that visit our house every year. We will enjoy time with family and friends. And none of our celebrations will include dancing naked around campfires or sacrificing anything. But whichever way you choose to celebrate.
