Cherish each day with your family...

"Near the end of his life, one father looked back on how he had spent his time on earth. An acclaimed, respected author of numerous scholarly works, he said, 'I wish I had written one less book and taken my children fishing more often.'
"Time passes quickly. Many parents say that it seems like yesterday that their children were born. Now those children are grown, perhaps with children of their own. 'Where did the years go?' they ask. We cannot call back time that is past, we cannot stop time that now is, and we cannot experience the future in our present state. Time is a gift, a treasure not to be put aside for the future but to be used wisely in the present."
-Thomas S. Monson
Today as Guido was wished a Happy Birthday over and over again I couldn't help but feel a heaviness in my heart. A heaviness that is wrong and just should not be. Everyone from my family called to wish Guido a Happy Birthday, making sure not to let the day go by without letting him know how much they love him and how important he is to them.
The heaviness comes when I think of my husband's family. Not a word from anyone. I understand and can accept that they treat my husband and I the way they do but doing that to Guido is just hurtful. Although, he has gotten used to not having them involved or part of family events, special moments, etc. But I just know it is wrong.
I will just go on though. I will continue to cherish the family relationships that we do have. We will pray each and every day that the hearts of my husband's family will be softened. That some day we will be united as a family again. We will pray that not to much more time or to many more moments will continue to be wasted.
