Weekend update.... by Jenn Jam

I could not have asked for a more perfect weekend. Nothing is more relaxing then going and enjoying a holiday weekend with friends and family at my grandmothers.
To begin with here are a few pictures of the remodel, it is coming along well. The paint is going up and the floor will be in next week.

The town of Gunnison (which is the area my grandmother was born and raised) was celebrating their 150th year. My Grandmother grew up in the tiny town of Axtell that had a population of 25 - 20 of them were related. Her parents owned a restaurant, store, gas station, and ran the post office. In 1970 they sold the property to the state because of the expansion of Highway 89. My Great-grandparents touched many peoples lives and they never turned away anyone that would come along. Earlier this year as the town of Axtell raised funds to create a park on the original property that the restaurant and store stood on, they did this in honor of my Great-grandparents. They also asked my grandmother and her sisters to ride on a float representing the town in their fourth of July celebration. It was amazing the effort and work that went into this float. They had original items from the Cafe' including benches from the booths, a gas pump, the stools from the bar and other assorted items.

After a jaunt to Axtell, we rushed back to enjoy the biggest and best parade in Sanpete county. The kids absolutley love this parade. The girls love to see the princess' and the boys love the tanks, and firetrucks. There are so many fun things to see that you can only get out of a small town parade.
