and the prize goes to....
I have come across some great google searches that have led people to my blog. However, the most recent of searches has got to take the cake. The search came from right here in good old West Jordan...someone in my home state, and even better I am almost certain someone curious about my recent weight loss. When I saw it I about died...of laughter that is.
It said......
"Jenn Jam(had my entire last name)surgery utah"
Cracked me up considering this person had to be #1 either a small handful of close friends or relatives because only they would know how to spell my entire last name (The sad thing is all my friends keep up on my weight loss efforts.) #2 Under the assumption that my weight loss could only be attributed to surgery(Sorry to disappoint you but I lost it all on my on fruition and am down 5 more pounds since my last update)
So there it is the winner!First prize to the #1 funniest of all searches...Thank you for the laugh. If I knew exactly who you were I would send you a prize. If you want to come forward, I will send you a prize.

Please no pushing, shoving or fighting....
On this most sacred of days, I must pause to honor all of those wonderful comments heard or maybe said at the wee hours of this not just chilly but freezing 6 degree morning.Today I am celebrating a decade of cold, sleepless Fridays that follow that wonderful day of Thanksgiving. Every year I say I am not going, that I am done with the craziness. However, every year there I am in the trenches, neck and neck ready to do battle. People question why. They question the sanity of the whole thing, but it is not to question. It is a tradition in my family, as much as Turkey and cranberries on Thanksgiving Day. After dinner, usually over dessert or second helpings we break out the ads, figure out what everyone needs and make a game plan. Then we break until morning when it is game on.
So without further adieu....
Mother, my arm is going numb. It's been 3 hours can someone else come and put there hand on this Kitchen Aid mixer.
Wow!!! Did that lady really just get her arm broken over a $10 toy?
Where are you all off to at this time of day?
Did I really just wait in this store for six hours for a $1.97 video?
I didn't realize the lines would be this bad, we just wanted to pick up this camera.
Why are you standing at that little pile of Blue Ray's when they have a huge unwrapped pallet sitting right back here?
Where's (fill in anyone child's name)?
Holy crap!!!Did you see those lines?
Someone really brought an RV to sleep in while waiting all night at Target...come on people, "If your gonna play with the big boys, you better suck it up!"
Come on Lady, "Just sit the last Lego castle down, sit it down. You want Star Wars they are cooler."
Drop the DS Lite...You don't have a magic ticket!!!
Is that person really grocery shopping...Today and Now??? Did they not get the memo?
and my personal favorite conversation of the day....
Random Ornery Lady: Don't you just hate it when people show up at the 11th hour when we have all been standing here waiting all night?
Me: Oh, were you talking to me? Must be your first time. I promise you next year you won't be standing by any camera for 5 hours when you can walk up five minutes before the sale starts and get one.
ROL: You think you are getting one of these cameras?
Me: No, actually I need three.
ROL: Over my dead body.
5:00am hits and I get my three cameras. ROL scowling at me rams into me as she pushes me aside.
I made sure to tell her "Merry Christmas!"

So I am not a good Mormon....
That's what he said.Who is he you say? He, would be a gentlemen I happened upon on facebook.
Why did he decide I am not a good Mormon? Because I teased my neighbor.
Why did I tease my neighbor? Because she deserved it.
I recently came across a cute little list on Facebook called"You know you are in Utah when."
I though it was funny. It is as long as you don't take things like that to seriously. It is if you don't take life to seriously. Of coarse about 95% of it was focused on Mormon's and on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
I was reading the wall and this gentlemen had written a comment about how rude the list was and how he was going to report it. I was thinking. "Wow, this is one really sensitive guy."
Then I got into a discussion group.
I saw a discussion about how bugged people from Utah were when they traveled out of the state and people asked them if they were Mormon.
I read all the comments about how rude it was to assume that, on and on and on, there were a few mixed in about what a good opportunity it might be to provide information to other about the church. Also some joking about how one guy always answers "Of coarse I am Mormon I'm from Utah are you ready to be converted."
Wanting to twist the conversation a little I made the comment that I myself find it rude when people in Utah, when meeting someone for the first time ask if they are a member of the church.
This is were the teasing of my neighbor comes in.
Let's go back to the Fall of `08
We were moving (this was the first move last year) One of the neighbors game up to introduce herself. Conversation went as follows...
"Hi, I'm Susie. We live in the house below. We have 6 kids, 5 girls and a boy. My husband Jo works at the Post office. But we would love to help you come get settled when he gets home from work.We are so excited to have someone be moving into this house. The last people ...... yadayadayada."
" Well I am Jenn, that's Eric, and somewhere around here is our son Guido. We are good on help but will let you know if we need anything."
" You guys are members of the church aren't you?"
"No, Actually we are Buddhist."
"Oh!!!Well I have to go now. "
"See you Susie"
Let's just say the look on her face at church on Sunday was too priceless for words. Her husband even thought it was hilarious. It was one of those sacrament meetings that I had to sit in the foyer because I couldn't stop giggling.

As I got back a few comments on facebook. Mostly people defending why it is okay to ask if you are a member of the church. Although did have a few people that think as I do, that no where but in Utah is that a question that you get asked. So I shared this story and really upset this Facebook friend of mine. He told me that as a member of the Church he found no humor in what I did and that I was a not a good Mormon. He also told me that if he ever found out where I lived he was going to report me to my bishop for being such a bad Mormon.
Luckily, somebody either reported him or facebook picked up on his threat because he is gone.
Wow, some people take things so seriously. I for one don't, so I will not worry to much about the bad Mormon thing.

Generational, Technical, Gap.....
Sometimes I think that the hardest thing for the older generation is the technological advances that have occurred over the years. Even in my lifetime they have improved by leaps and bounds. Today though I got to see the how difficult and confusing it is first hand. My Grandmother called and asked if we could come out to my Aunt's house and have Eric hook up her VCR. I called Eric and he said sure and so began the signs of how bad it really is for the older generation dealing with modern day technology.
First of all we get to her house to find what needs to be hooked up is a DVD player not a VCR.
Then whomever helped hook it up the first time around has one cord hooked up to the back of the DVD player but nothing hooked into the TV. So basically we drove 50 miles that took Eric 2 minutes to fix.
But the best of all was when my Aunt Doreen asked Eric "How you went about rewinding DVDs?" all Eric could do was shake his head and laugh.

"The most wasted of all days is one without laughter."
~E.E. Cummings
Sometimes, in the most seriousness of times a little laughter helps. I am so thankful I was raised in a house full of laughter. I also am happy that I have been able to continue that tradition with my husband and my son. Mason comes home everyday from school with a joke or two he wants to share. I love that he has such a wonderful sense of humor and loves to try and make me laugh and smile. Laughter is such an important part of my life and is such a great blessing to me. Sometimes that is all I need is just a really good laugh to make things all better.

Senior Buffett - Senior Meat Market...
My grandmother called me today and asked if I wanted to meet her and her sister's for lunch. Then before she could say where I told her that Golden Corral has a Senior hour from 1-3 and it was cheap. I knew that would get her. Otherwise we would have been off to the old Barf'O'Rama. So at least with Golden Corral, you get those amazing rolls and their salad bar isn't to bad.
However, I had no clue what I was in for. I'll bet I could count on two hands the people under 60. I am here to tell you, it was unexpected but it was a seriuos meat market. Who would of thought. My grandmother and aunts had gents getting them food, carrying their plates and all but asking for their numbers. I just sat back and just giggled. My Grandmother and her sisters are beautiful women and I can only pray I look as good as they do at their age.
They were the hotties of the Golden Corral and loved every minute of it.

Next...
As I stood in line today at the Department of Motor Vehicles I was thinking I was going to be there all day. I stood in line to take a number so I could stand in line to wait my turn. Lines, Lines, Lines. What a waste of time to have to wait in lines. Yes, I am sharing my lack of patience, but only when it comes to waiting in lines. So I took my number ~852~ and what is the first thing I see. Now serving 456!!! I am going to be here all freaking day or so I thought. As I turned to leave because I knew there was no way they were going to get through 396 people in the next hour before my next appointment.
What do I see but another now serving sign that said 851!!! I didn't even have time to sit down and they had called my name. I am so thankful for small favors.
I now have replacement plates for my car if only I had a car to put them on.
Stay tuned for next weeks. How annoying are insurance companies???

Happy Pioneer Day...
Today in true pioneer fashion we went on a trek. It was a long trek but I was so excited I could barely contain myself. Since we were in the neighborhood we decided to trek ourselves on down to....

The Grand Canyon.
As we drove and drove the more Mason said "Where is it Mom, where is the Grand Canyon, I don't see it Mom, where is it? How much further? When are we going to be there?" Thank goodness for built in DVD/TV's in cars.
So yeah, not the true Pioneer Trek, no built in TV's in the covered wagons. But a trek for us none the less.
We finally arrived and began to walk towards the lodge. Once we got to the lookout spot, Mason looks at me and says " That's the Grand Canyon, that's all it is, Wow, can we go back to the hotel now."
Of coarse we stayed, enjoyed the amazing views, and spent some quality time together as a family. I am so thankful that we were able to go and see something that some people go there entire lives without seeing. We are so very blessed.

Honey, Where did you park the car ???
I am sure everyone has had it happen. You walk out of the mall and can't find your car. I usually do on occasion but usually it is when I am on the phone while parking and not paying attention to where I have parked. But I will bet it is rare to be asking that question in your own home.
Well that was the kind of discussion Eric and I had last night.
I was in the shower when I heard the garage door. I thought that's weird I wonder where Eric is going. I went down and looked in the garage, no Eric. I went back to our room and grabbed my phone. I called Eric to ask him where he was and he said he was in the basement. I told him he wasn't funny and said really where are you. He told me again he was in the basement. I asked him where the care was then. He said what do you mean where is the car, it is in the garage. But of coarse it wasn't.
We have had the fun privilege of having our car stolen. It is funny though I am not as upset about the car as I am the stuff in the car. Like my brand new camera, my mp3 player and the worst I remembered this morning, my favorite hoodie. I realize that it is all replaceable and it is just stuff but it still sucks. We found my purse on the side of the road this morning of coarse nothing of value left in it. Oh well, I guess that someone else needed it more then I did. I hope they are enjoying the A/C I just got fixed.
Luckily, the insurance company says that 9 times out of 10 they find the car in a few weeks. I am hoping so, would really like my hoodie back.

A sweet new member of the family....
This is Zoe
She is a purebread Springer Spaniel
She is so smart and has been easily trained.
She stays when told-(She was looking at a cat)
She sits on command
and she loves to cuddle.
However, in true puppy fashion she loves to chew on anything other then her chew toys.
Her favorite is to shred paper...
Bye-Bye Zoe !!!
